Appa’s mission is to empower every teen with world-class mentorship and mental health skills. They are a dynamic team of operators, technologists, clinicians, and mentors all motivated around their mission to serve teens. In addition to digital tools, Appa supports teens with a virtual mentor (all mentor and mentee interactions occur online) who has evidence-based training to help them meet their goals.

Impact

Appa continuously evaluates outcomes by measuring students’ well-being throughout their time using Appa's services. Appa was fortunate to be awarded a $2M National Institute of Mental Health grant to run a large-scale randomized controlled trial, which is in progress. Further, Appa published a peer-reviewed pilot paper to assess the usability of their platform.

Appa is compliant with all appropriate privacy policies: COPPA, FERPA and HIPAA (where appropriate for a non-clinical service).

Data provided to school/district

We provide anonymous and aggregated information about students in the program. If appropriate, or in collaboration with schools and families, they may report individualized data with teen and parent permission.
